Root-Canal Treatment

We’ve all heard of Root-Canal Treatments – and we’ve all feared them – but not many of us actually know what they are. Luckily, our dentists at the Cosmetic Dentistry Group are here to explain, and to help should you ever need one.

WHAT IS ROOT-CANAL TREATMENT?

A Root-Canal Treatment is necessary when the tissues – nerves etc – inside your tooth become infected. The Treatment will remove the infected tissues and then fill the canal with an inert material called gutta-percha. If you leave your tooth untreated, however, the infection can spread to surrounding tissues, so it’s best to get sorted as soon as possible.

WHAT CAN THE COSMETIC DENTISTRY GROUP DO FOR YOU?

If you are suffering from toothache or swelling, come see one of our Cosmetic Dentistry Group dentists. Through X-rays and inspection, our dentists will be able to determine if you are suffering from an infection, and how long treatment will take. Our dentists will evaluate whether they should prescribe painkillers or antibiotics, both before and after the procedure.

At your appointment to address the infection, our highly skilled dentists will make sure the area is numb before drilling into the problem tooth and cleaning out the canals inside. If you are a nervous patient, be sure to ask our trained dentists about sedation dentistry. We will then fill the cavity with gutta-percha to seal the tooth. If the infection did a lot of damage to your tooth, we will be able to recommend and discuss Crowns.

Our very experienced dentists will also advise you on the best aftercare for your tooth, and whether any further work is necessary to make the tooth stronger.
