Dental Implants

Accidents happen, but that’s no reason to sit with missing teeth for the rest of your life. Especially since missing teeth will have an impact on the functionality of your mouth. Dental implants are a long-term solution to missing teeth.

WHAT ARE DENTAL IMPLANTS?

Titanium implants form a replacement for the root of your tooth. A hole is drilled in your jaw to make a socket, and the implant is secured in the jaw bone. This provides a supportive structure for a crown or bridge. As done by the dentists at the Cosmetic Dentistry Group, the implant will be fitted in such a way that it “becomes” part of the bone tissue and provides a stable and long-term basis for your new teeth. This will ensure that bone loss is limited and that all your other healthy teeth are left untouched.

WHAT CAN THE COSMETIC DENTISTRY GROUP DO FOR YOU?

Our dentists will examine you to determine if you are a suitable candidate for an implant. They will also be able to advise you on the likely cost of the procedure.

At your pre-implant appointment, our very experienced dentists will make sure your teeth and gums are in perfect health – and if they aren’t, they will treat any problems before embarking on the implant process. Following X-rays, the titanium implant will be made. Our dentists can offer local anaesthesia, or sedation for nervous patients. Thereafter, the implant is left to heal for up to six months, during which you will be fitted with temporary bridges. Then, our dentists will fit a temporary crown, and after another healing period of up to six weeks, a permanent replacement tooth.

Cosmetic Dentistry Group dentists will also be able to advise you on bone grafting, should there be insufficient bone to hold the implant. Should that be the case, they can offer a range of grafting techniques, from sinus augmentation to onlay grafting (where the bone is taken from somewhere else in your body).

Finally, our dentists will advise you on how to look after your implants.
